Former Employee - Sales Engineer says"I worked at Sweetwater part-time for more than a year Cons: Unrealistic and unfair demands on time, dishonest and untrustworthy management and upper management, isolated from interaction with Mr. Surak despite claims of "open door," policy, "The Right Thing," is only relative to Image and Marketing. DO NOT move here from anywhere else. They do NOT pay for the actual cost of moving, only some of it (and they try to wiggle out of that too). Age, Orientation, & Disabled status are all details that will be judged, sometimes harshly. No matter what you want to believe, your manager is not your friend."

I've been here a long time and they are increasing the starting wages to what I'm making. No increase for anyone making over $15 an hour. All the experienced assistants are leaving due to the lack of loyalty from the company. Many others are about to quit soon."

The number of employees far exceeds the recommended limits and while not everyone can work from home there a significant number who can reducing the numbers. They claim to care about employees and community but they have shown their true colors here! Money is their focus--not God or people!"

I don't want to go into a lot of detail, but here are things I would suggest you ask about in an interview: 1. Do salaried employees need to clock in/out everyday, as well as at lunch. 2. Does the company offer tuition reimbursement. 3. What conferences and training do they provide to the software team. 4. What is the cost of health insurance, and how long is the waiting period. 5. How many paid holidays do you get. 6. Do you have paid sick time? 7. How much vacation do you get. 8. Do you have a career ladder (ask to see it). 9. Do you offer sign on bonuses? 10. Are you required to work during Gearfest and is it possible to take vacation during that time. 11. What is the turnover rate in the software team? 12. What is the average tenure of the software team? 13. How many people with the title of manager are in the marketing department? If you ask these questions, I'm fairly certain you won't be happy with any of the responses."

At least 55 hours a week there in your first year. Judgmental atmosphere that rewards bad sales behaviors. Your managers/coaches who are telling you what to do HAVE NEVER EVEN DONE YOUR JOB. Zero mobility."

Long hours, corporate treatment, and non genuine thanks for working hard, if any at all. Mandatory meetings unpaid- due to being on commission but penalized if late or miss. By the time I left, it was under advisement of my doctor. Sales floor is full of sharks though they claim it's not, and high school drama type of culture."

Sales Engineer (Current Employee) says"I don't feel like I'm seen as a human. DO NOT WORK AT SWEETWATER SOUND!!!!!! Only 40% of their employees make it through their training program. They move you out across the country to their CULT then fire you with no way of feeding your family!!! They also tell you that no one ever fails their fake "University" but that's obviously far far far from the truth. I love being a sales engineer but the tyranical leadership is driving me insane!!!!!! I'm being forced to work for this company for six more months or I have to pay TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS because of my moving expenses. I love the work but the leadership is absolutely disgusting. Cons: Management tells you stress doesn't exist. High turn over."
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) says"I worked there 2 years working overtime 55+ hour weeks working understaffed most the time. No managers take anyone seriously. HR gets changed constantly so no one can really help you. New point system means terminations after 3 missed calling in days. Working 9 -11 hour shifts with only a 30 min lunch and usually half that is spent waiting in line. Constant harassment. They WILL take advantage of you."

Machine Operator (Former Employee) says"They will tell you all that you want to hear before you come in, however, once I was in it changed drastically. All of the managers except the ones on the floor with you suck, for lack of a better word. I wouldn’t ever expect emails to the HR lady to be returned. The growth opportunities are non existent. Once they see you in one spot you don’t move. The pay for what you do is disgustingly subpar. Working at fedex or ups will give you more money to start for doing less work than you would here. Also if you ever get on a supervisors bad side or wrong someone in anyway, you have about 2 months before they fire you. They try to find everything wrong with what you do in your work, it doesn’t matter how hard you work. People are lazy, yet the double standard they have makes people quit faster than they can hire people. Their turnover rate is higher than what they will lie and tell you. I’d rather work at a fast food restaurant than here ever again because of how inconsistent management and HR is. Overall, shiftiest job I’ve ever had and Ive worked as a plumber before. Cons: No breaks, bad pay, bad management, bad experience"

Shipping Specialist (Former Employee) says"Low pay that only really appeals to teenagers looking for a first job (and thats exactly who works there). Lazy people get way with being lazy if they're chummy with management, while others are left to pick up the slack. I met a few amazing people here, but very few. There were multiple complaints made against a manager for being inappropriate, yet nothing was done. Chucks presence provided a feeling of disdain. An overall disappointment for me. I was extremely excited to receive the job, but quickly realized it was not what i expected. You're made to feel as though you will advance within you're job, but that generally isn't so in the warehouse. Cons: Awful work environment."

They will terminate you if you do not attend the entire 10-12 hour shift regardless of what your schedule is set as. The job is stressful and management is terrible. I do not recommend this job unless you are one who wants a lot of overtime during the holidays and you are okay with a fast paced environment. Cons: Stressful, Poor management, No work/life balance"

Server (Former Employee) says"I worked here for 4 months. When I got hired it was a dream come true. Paid time off, insurance, and a 401k for servers is nearly unheard of. One Saturday night, a guest became very intoxicated and was grabbing me inappropriately, calling me names. and putting his hands on me. My managers did nothing, but rather watched it happen while drinking beers, calling me dramatic. The next week, I was given the worst sections, didn’t make any money, and was eventually fired through an email for “not social distancing outside of work.” I loved working for this company, but they showed me their true colors and I can say it’s not a good company to work for. Cons: No protection from management, retaliation"

This company no longer cares about the individual but breaking sales goals from the year before and is quick to remind you that you can be replaced."

We weren't paid good at all and worked so much overtime for it but felt like we should have been paid better for the excellent job we did. Cons: They have an HR department but its terrible, I was sexually harassed multiple times by a manager and so was other girls, but nothing was done"
Forecasting & Planning Analyst (Former Employee) says"Without defined expectations by management it's difficult for employees to thrive. While there's a collection of impressive people at the top, middle management struggles to communicate, train, and collaborate. I left a great job because I was promised opportunities that never turned out. I was told I would be able to explore math, collaborate with a team, and do research to improve their tech system. I was unable to collaborate with people on my team since they had more music knowledge than technical experience; all math projects were postponed because of bottlenecks in IT for 1-2 years; and my manager micro-managed me out the door. Most people walk on eggshells and people are not held accountable within the organization. While there are lots of good people at Sweetwater, if you join the wrong team be prepared to get screwed."

Data Entry (Former Employee) says"Do you work in sales? Great! They’ll love you! Do you work in the warehouse? That sucks cause they are gonna treat you like a slave. They’ll talk down to you, won’t let you advance out of the warehouse, and they force mandatory overtime instead of hiring the correct amount of people for a department. Cons: Management is horrible"
azlan says"Despite the fact that a lot of their deals are very competitive, Sweetwater has signed an agreement with a dealer to refuse delivery to Malaysia. But their system allows any potential buyer from Malaysia to buy and we have to wait 24 hours we could get refund. I find this disappointing and a waste of buyer's time. please remove the country from your system to avoid further confusion. Update: I have bought the item from another online retailer in US who is delivering to Malaysia using DHL. TQ"
